There's a difference between knowing someone and knowing everything about them. He knows you. Your moods, your habits, that kind of thing. What he's asking for is the details.

If you want it to work, you can't hold onto one extreme while he holds onto the other. You compromise. You don't want to give details, he wants them. Instead of pulling back and forth and arguing about it, find some kind of middle ground that works for both of you.

Then you need to find a way to make the compromise favorable to both of you. Give a little, but don't let him know that you're only giving him a little. That way you have the appearance of making the compromise favorable to him.
